There are probably alot of people in the eastern USA that are thinking their warm winter is due to global warming.  However living in Arizona and talking with my father who lives in Ohio I have discovered that there is a correspondence between cold weather in Arizona and warm weather in Ohio and vice versa.  It is due to the jet stream.  When the jet stream dips far down and brings cold weather to Arizona it has time to warm up. It then oscillates back north carrying with it warmer air to the eastern USA. Likewise if the jet stream does NOT dip down south in the western USA then it goes to the eastern USA unwarmed and therefore you in the east experience a “cold” winter.
