Stealthy Nature of the Wind Power Revolution

There are a couple of interesting anecdotal facts I’ve come across lately.

1- An aquaintance of mine is doing large load escort.  He said that he’s doing ALOT of large wind tower escort.  Huge business numbers going on.  Interesting in that I do not think any amount of government subsidy can build and sustain any sort of meaningful business.  In order for something to explode it has to be genuinely economical.

My source also reports that a wide variety of companies are involved in this industry now.

2- James J. Cramer mentioned on Mad Money that 10% of domestic steel production is being used to build wind power

These 2007 numbers argue against any significant effect of wind power

(one megawatt of wind power produces enough electricity on average to serve 250 to 300 homes)States with most wind energy installed, by capacity (MW)1. Texas 2,768 MW

2.  California 2,361

3.  Iowa 936

4. Minnesota 895

5. Washington 818

In year 2000 the Palo Verde nuclear plant generated 30.4 million megawatts of power.  Thus wind power as of year 2007 is 1/10000 of the palo verde nuclear generating station.  We’re using gobs of steel and not really making a dent in our power budget. Yet it seems like its likely that its profitable to generate.  That is until the cost of steel goes up high enough that it shuts the process down the same way corn prices must be squeezing ethanol margins.

I guess I just came to the conclusion that as long as this is going on the only real winners in the big picture is going to be the steel producers!

A much more productive method of wind generation is going to be required if its to be a significant contributor.  I’m doubtful now.

PBS Global Warming Venn Diagram

PBS our friendly neighborhood socialist government network is a definite “believer” in global warming. That’s because global warming is a great excuse to tax. And since they are a not for profit leach on society they love taxes!  They have a site with a Global Warming Venn Diagram that schools can use to indoctrinate school children.   I’ve filled out the way I helped my child fill it out so you can see it.

Tennis Shoes over Power lines - Dope pushing 101 for white people

Ever see tennis shoes over power lines?  I have several times and always wondered what the shit was up with that?  I always thought it in my naive white boy way it was just some kids having fun with old shoes.  In my defense that was only a fleeting thought and I figured there was something I did not know.

Turns out its used by dope pushers to mark their place of business.

While I think drugs should be legal I will be the first person to tell you the people who ply the drug trade professionally are tacky sons a bitches.  All the more reason to allow them the chance to self destruct.

Above is a diagram of how this self destruction occurs.  Criminal interactions of the types I’m talking about are much more likely to end in one perpetrator killing the other.  Relative probability flow being depicted by thickness of the line connecting nodes.

You might say its heartless for me to say all this.  I say completely the opposite.  For when you oppress the many nonoffenders to get at the drug users you commit a far worse crime.  You treat good people with no respect.  To me that’s a high crime.

Whether you like it or not physical principles and by proxy mathematics rule your life.  You simply just do not know it yet.
