The electric car was around before GM and its still around after GM gave up on the EV1 ( however temporary that may be ) You see any scientific or engineering concept is alive in its own right. It has its own probability of implementation based on feasibility, useability, desirability and economics. So when somebody makes a movie with the premise being GM killed the electric car you should immediately be able to deduce they are lying for their own gain or they are just plain illiterate in an engineering sense.

It appears to me electric cars in some practical form will happen soon. 10 years outside limit. More like 5 years as highest probability before you see alot on the road. This will only be the beginning. The material science of batteries will improve with time.
The electric car was not killed. You can not kill a concept or and idea. They float in the air like clouds and if you try to shoot them with a gun they merely chuckle and close around the bullet as it passes. Shun those that try to pass off GM as having the power to kill a concept. These are the people who believe in Kings and big government. They are liberals who like cats and do not know the first thing about engineering a product that someone actually wants to use. They are the people who would have you fester in your worry about global warming and have you pay high taxes on all carbon as penance for being alive.
