Magic thinking is when a person abandons all logic in thought.  Usually there is a fantasy component to the thinking.   It is rarely a good thing.  The person who exhibits this type of thinking is usually highly self centered and selfish.

James Hansen the high priest of global warming has repeatedly said that he is being censored and repressed by the evil George Bush.   Thus it is high irony that he says the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature.  His reasoning?  He accuses them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer.  So magically this simple green thinks if he is suppressed its bad.  However if he suppresses other people with techniques far more harsh than what he describes as having happened to him it is ok! This is magic thinking of the highest order.  If you do it, it is a crime.  If I do it, it is ok, even virtuous! Wake up.  These leftists are dictators.  Crimes against nature.  Sounds like the description they used for sodomy laws.
