I am registered republican and currently not a vote for or against them as I do not vote in their primary and most likely they are in a district in which they do not have significant probability of electing republicans and thus:

If they vote for this health care bill I will register democrat solely so I can vote against them in the primary

I will to donate money to their primary opponents

In the general election I will of course vote republican but hopefully the republican will not be running against them. They will be running against their primary opponent!

Genetic code is reused in exactly the same manner human programmers reuse code. Thus once some random string of genetic coding is found useful there is a process that preserves it from change. That change is called survival. If it is a random string with no purpose then it is swept from the system by error. Error is death. Thus if you sequence the human genome you can compare useful portions with those of widely separated animals such as mice and find almost identical code.

I recommend tracking the Iceland situation. The following videos are a good breeze over the latest developments. The socialist leftist government of England invoked terrorism laws against Iceland for the sake of trying to get at more of Icelands assets. Just goes to show you that you can not trust a liberal around a legal system. They do not care a bit about your life. But do not pay your taxes and you'll be in some serious trouble even maybe called a terrorist!

The U.K. is trying to force Iceland into giving up its claims on arctic oil and gas in compensation for their losses with Icelandic banks. Nevermind the glaring non sequitur that U.K. investors lost money in a private bank and not with the Icelandic government.

It really bears watching because ordinary citizens that had no dog in the hunt are being asked to pay for what private banks did. That's like running out onto the street and randomly grabbing some stranger and making him liable for my debts. What is so central and bears watching is that there are many situations in the world economy where the innocent bystander is going to be asked to pay. This may have flown in yesteryear but factoring in the internet these politicians might find a whole new era ushered in. The best thing that could happen is that all banks that have failed to fully do so with out any government support. Investors must learn that the saying of the day is caveat emptor and that there are no citizens standing by with ambulances to cart them of if they make a mistake.

Presented by Gregory Benford.

Genescient is the world's first computational biology company founded on the use of artificial biological selection to cure the diseases of aging. Our laboratory animals have been selected for longevity through 750 generations for the equivalent of 15,000 human years. I will describe Genescient's multiple pathways toward accelerating human longevity, with parallel enhancements of vigor and function. Genescient applies 21st century genomic technology to identify, screen and develop benign therapeutic substances at precise doses, to defeat the diseases of aging. Our singular approach addresses the complex genomic networks that underlie aging and aging-associated diseases such as cardiovascular disease, Type II diabetes and neurodegenerative diseases. I shall display some results and our first product, due in 2009.

Gregory Benford is a Professor Emeritus at the University of California, Irvine, where he was a Professor of Physics. He is a Woodrow Wilson Fellow, a Fellow of the American Physical Society and was Visiting Fellow at Cambridge University and the Universities of Turin and Bologna. In 1995 he received the Lord Prize for contributions to science. With more than 200 scientific publications, his research encompasses both theory and experiments in the fields of astrophysics and plasma physics. His research has been supported by NSF, NASA, AFOSR, DOE and other agencies. He is an ongoing advisor to NASA, DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) and the CIA.

Dr. Benford is also the author of more than thirty books, nearly all still in print. His work has won many awards, including the Nebula Award for his novel Timescape. His non-fiction Deep Time received much praise in 1999 and he won the United Nations Medal in literature in 1994.

Gregory Benford became Emeritus form the University of California, Irvine, in 2006 in order to found and develop Genescient.
