Preparation

Unknown to me before starting this process I had a preexisting Google Apps account for the first website.  My website was already "claimed" by my AdSense / AdWords / Webmaster Tools account.   This prevented me from registering the site again with Google Apps.   I had to coerce ownership by placing a CNAME record to force the use of new username and password combination.

Setup Steps – After being able to log on to Google Apps / MyDomain.com

Testing

  • When I first tested from 1 dreamhost to another dreamhost email > I could send from the converted account successfully.  I could not send TO the converted account.  However I could successfully receive from a Hotmail account.  I could also send from the gmail interface.

Auxiliary Notes that were notes that were not required but are helpful to understanding
