Truly Enlightened People do not vote democrat
There are any number of reasons people vote democrat. Its my supposition that none of them are nonselfish. People like to think they are helping the world when they vote unDemocrat but that’s simply their way of rationalizing their actions. The unDemocrats have the following points more or less. Some of the points apply to republicans as well. The point is they are the government party. As much as you like to think of the USA as a democracy its not really. The drawback when you accept the policy that the government needs to be involved in anything you are accepting the premise of big government. This is because there is essentially no scenario where government remains small. Thus in essence George W. Bush is simply a socialist light version of the unDemocrats.
What are the features that tell me this:
- use of coercive techniques. All government rules under the authority model. This is outdated when you compare it with Web 2.0 that runs under a volunteer model.
- Any one who would get involved in government is essentially saying they have nothing better to do.
- government under no scenario stays small. Libertarians like me wish there were one but practically speaking its hard to imagine.
- movie stars / celebrities / politicians are all needy people. The psychological payoff in popularity is what they need. They will buy it at any cost.
- The people who are the workhorses for the politicians need to be paid. They do this by getting government to cough up the money.
I’m hoping that someday the Ray Kurzweil predictions of augmented human intelligence come to pass. No one should ever be coerced by the means our government uses. Why should anyone be forced to pay taxes? You should only pay for that which you use. Same as any other business. And government is a business with no doubt. Socialists like to think it is not because otherwise they would have to admit they are not the enlightened crew they imagine themselves to be. They are by an large a group with low self awareness.
I look forward to a future in which we come together more out of the carrot rather than the stick. Many people have told me there would be chaos but I disagree. We already do alot of stuff voluntarily. Otherwise you would never make it down the street alive in your car. We cooperate much more than you realize.
