Connecting an Android Phone to an External Monitor

For purposes of development and some applications it would be good to be able to connect an Android pad / phone to an external monitor. That looks like this:

The critical line in the phone specifications is: USB microUSB v2.0 (MHL TV-out), USB Host

MHL is "Mobile High Definition Link"
