Where does most electrical energy come from?

Most of the electrical energy in the USA is supplied by burning fossil fuels.  Currently coal is number 1 for generation of electricity. The only alternative to fossil fuels is nuclear energy. All other green candidates are drop in the bucket propositions.  Research is definitely merited on the basis of cost, cleanliness and in the interests of decentralization.   However as global warming is a sham we should not be coerciing anyone in the name of man made global warming.
