Software: ChromeCacheView – easily view chrome cache content

Viewing the chrome cache files can be a pain by the manual cut and paste method.  The files are full of binary representations that make no immediate sense to a human.  You have to copy all and paste into an online tool.  Be careful to not refresh pages of interest when recovering files.  It will wipe out the files if you do.  Better yet there may be a setting that you can turn off to prevent any erasure while you are doing your recovery.

There is a much better solution:

ChromeCacheView runs as an application on your machine and you can view whole webpages and images by just using the appropriate menu function. MUCH BETTER.

Business: Ford Escape Hybrid

I had a conversation today with a fellow who goes all over the country buying Ford Escape hybrids.  He mentioned that many people panic when they hear something is wrong with this model of car because it is a hybrid.  However he worked at Ford and has been trained on them.  It was mentioned that after he buys them on the cheap in these circumstances that they are wanted all over the world and that many times his units are taken off his hands over the phone and exported.  Another niche market example that shows how a micro business can be run.

To prevent unlawful use of your unexpired plates, you may destroy and recycle them where you are, or you may return them to any Missouri license office to be destroyed and recycled.

DSL Phone Line Extension

Research Notes

Given the graph below I surmise that the extra 500 feet to Loo's house will not affect the speed much.  

Conclusions

  • We can probably just use twisted pair inside network cable to extend DSL up to Loo's.
  • A back up plan would be to place the DSL modem at Claudio's and run the ethernet over fiber solution up to Loo's.

RF over Fiber

RF over fiber is where you modulate an RF signal onto the light beam and thus transmit it at a lower loss over a long distance.  It is an analog usage as opposed to a digital one as used in data transmission such as an ethernet extender. I have found some equipment for doing this but have not yet found anything that appears it will do the full Internet + Cable TV solution to extend the pole to internet modem solution that is cheap enough to use.

For now this is not a viable solution to the house in the forest long internet cable extension problem.  It will probably get there soon though.
