I will be studying the business model of La Via Campesina trying to decipher its structure. Having been to Brazil and knowing the culture makes me very skeptical when I study the issues. The average Brazilian does not appear overly concerned with the environment or socialist / communist causes.  Thus I suspect a bunch of opportunistic white NJF’s are trying to proxy in as representatives of the global poor.  Truly unfortunate for the poor and a truly shabby way to treat our fellow humans.

In May of 1993, the First Conference of La Via Campesina was held in Mons, Belgium, where it was constituted as a world organization, and its first strategic guidelines and structure were defined. The Second International Conference was held in 1996 in Tlaxcala, Mexico; the third in 2000 in Bangalore, India; and the fourth in 2004 in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
