How long has the global warming debate been going on? The New Amish

The man made global warming MMGW debate has been going on since about 1980 when the religious adherents switch religion from global cooling – coming ice age to MMGW.

The difference is that with global cooling there was no natural logical conclusion drawn when all the chicken littles were clucking about global cooling they did not say “We need to burn MORE carbon based fossil fuels” 

Thus it is very easy to see the global warming debate is in reality an smoke screen for a new Luddite (anti technology) movement.   Its interesting to contrast the adherents with the Amish.  The Amish are anti technology.  However they do not seek to force me to pay taxes to support their religion.   This is in contrast with the MMGW true believers.  They act like the infected in the Omega Man movie.
