I read this article: Global Warming Causes Pirate Population Decrease 
The central hypothesis is that we have noticed that as the world has become more industrialized the number of pirates has indeed dropped dramatically. The chart is clear. The evidence is irrefutable. The scientist (almost) all agree Pirate populations have suffered. Global warming may not be the cause but should we take the risk of waiting for more research? 4 out of 5 pirates who chew gum agree.
