Idea Confirmed: When Troops Play by Nicey Nice Rules There is More Trouble and Deaths

I was in the Dallas airport waiting for my plane to Brazil when I ended up talking with a soldier.  Somewhere in the conversation he mentioned the following: 

The Iraqi’s know the “personality” of each of the units of the armed forces.  If a certain unit shows more propensity to “color outside the lines” they desists a great much in their trouble making.  They know some of the units will break the rules enough to get them.  If a unit comes in that plays it by the book then the insurgents are more bold.

So next time you see some politician like John Kerry trying to score points by narc’ing out their comrades in arms remember this.   More of our men will die when we play nicey nice with murderous thugs.  Murderous sociopaths only understand force.  They do not understand “pretty-please with sugar on top?”
