Reverse Engineered Tokyo Express Tofu Salad Ginger Dressing
Had this at Tokyo Express a lot. Took a while to figure out the recipe
Success in the reverse engineering effort. The following recipe yields very close knockoff of the Tokyo Express Tofu Salad Ginger dressing. It was described as the Benihana ginger dressing so I have to assume Tokyo express copied their dressing.
1/2 cup minced onion
1/2 cup peanut oil
1/3 cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
2 tablespoons minced celery
2 tablespoons ketchup
4 teaspoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper ( optional – original Benihana recipe called for this. Appears Tokyo Express does not use it )
1/2 cup peanut oil
1/3 cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons minced fresh ginger
2 tablespoons minced celery
2 tablespoons ketchup
4 teaspoons soy sauce
2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper ( optional – original Benihana recipe called for this. Appears Tokyo Express does not use it )
Instructions: Combine all ingredients in a blender. Blend on high speed until all of the ginger is well-pureed.
Makes 1 3/4 cups.
Artsy's comment below stimulated me to email him and ask for any recipe he thinks is closer to the Tokyo Express recipe. While googling I found some useful research links.

How to predict the future
Have you ever heard anyone saying "it can not get any worse!" Anyone with common sense knows it can always get worse unless you are buried 6 feet under. It appears to me that getting worse is exactly what happens. To get better would require some marvel of science where in the third law of thermodynamics is violated. Thus arises my theory of how to predict the future. Think of the worst change that could happen to your society and assume that is the future. Well maybe not but it sure is not going to get any better.

CBS Lounge Murder Ray Krone
I was called for jury duty in the early 1990's. It was for murder case against Ray Krone. I remember thinking to myself jokingly when I saw Ray Krone trotted in for a plea in front of the judge "I am going to fry that guy". Since I am a rational human ( aka engineer ) I was not and would never be selected for jury duty. It appears lawyers like people with ill formed minds that can easily be twisted by their foolish words. Years later Ray Krone was exonerated after sitting in prison for 10 years. Part of that time he was on death row for a murder he did not commit. Maybe my "fry that dude" joke was in poor taste.
