The People of Global Warming – MMGW

Somehow I managed to randumbly run across a Thomas Freidman article Coulda,Shoulda, Woulda .  In this article he argues we missed a huge opportunity after 9/11 to put taxes on imported oil.   Exerpt below:

In the wake of 9/11, some of us pleaded for a “patriot tax” on gasoline of $1 or more a gallon to diminish the transfers of wealth we were making to the very countries who were indirectly financing the ideologies of intolerance that were killing Americans and in order to spur innovation in energy efficiency by U.S. manufacturers.

Typical liberal. He thinks the money magically goes into a hole and is never seen again.  This money would go into the mouth of government and be doled out increasing the income of politically connected people like Al Gore for his jet and all the hood rats that take down so much welfare only to go into a Oldsmobile 225.

What you need to do in the case he describes is exactly what WAS done. Let the money stay in the market , in the hands of the people who are making the true economic decisions in this country.  The people.  Remember that great big cooperative effort called Wikipedia?   Totally voluntary.  There is no government program saying anyone must contribute.  I think this demonstrates how awfully square and uncool these aged wannabee 60’s hipsters are.   All they understand is a crude meddling.  A Stalinistic heavy hand that forces you to have only once choice of car or anything else.  These are the people of global warming

The People of Wikipedia

In contrast the part of each of us, including poor Short-Bus-Liberal-Friedman, that exercise economic decisions everyday edge toward local minima of cash consumption result in resource management far more intelligently.  This  happens in the same manner as Wikipedia versus Encyclopedia Brittanica.  Public consentual management of resources ALWAYS beats centrally managed efforts.  If you can not see this wake up. You are critically behind the times.  The most effective web efforts now days are publicly created.  Wikipedia, Ebay what other argument need I make ?   The economy as a whole invented Ebay thousands of years ago.  A database was only overlaid upon it in the 90s.
