Generally speaking there are no short cuts in life.  I call this conservation of difficulty.   Just as energy, momentum and any number of other physical quantities in the universe complexity is by an large conserved.

In the world of people this complexity is maintained by a dynamic equalibria of the market place which is maintained by the feedback based on the law of large numbers.   An example of this is stock trading patterns.  Once they are widely recognized the force of huge numbers of people piling in kills the trading pattern.   Think housing collapse.  When the last fool buys in there is no one left to sell to.

So next time someone promises you an easy buck just realize alot of other intelligent people probably have had the same idea you did 100 years ago.  So be careful.   More importantly be careful who listen to and who you trust.  On your own you can limit the damage by the amount of time you have to self destruct and on the other end the fact that you are learning.  However if you let others into the scheme you’re likely to burn your hand.  That’s what socialism is. Its a way to burn people whilst professing all the while you are the nicest guy around.
