We would be a quasi Brasil.

That is a fairly easy question since my home away from home is Brazil.  They have fully implemented everything the unDemocrats talk about.  What does that mean?

  • Brazilians are a cheery lot but there is a thick vein of depression that runs through the society – this is due to under employment and the resultant hit to self actualization they take due to chronic under employment and under utilization.  In case you do not know it common sense and the law of supply and demand says that if work is scarce and workers are plentiful then no amount of unionization or OSHA regulation is going to improve your working conditions or rate of pay.  In Brazil many employers treat employees as slaves when compared with the USA.
  • An elite has most of the power.  What did you expect from socialism? – equality?  Well ok equally miserable on the bottom.   Not alot of mobility in what passes for a "class" system.  That is to say good luck with the upward mobility.  You might make it. Probabilities say not likely.
  • Its not a racist society as the blacks  there show what kind of quality is possible. However it is illegal to say a racial epithet.  You might think that is good.  You forgot about your freedom of speech.   Fact it people there fear to offend the wrong person.   They realize the rich in a socialist society can have you bumped off and cheaply at that
  • Gasoline costs 2X what it does in the USA.  Costs 4 here? try 8 per gallon there.   That with complete energy balance.  They import and export equal amounts.  Taxes are exorbitant.
  • Cell phone?  Costs 15 cents per minute.  People keep their calls very short.  Most of the money goes to the government.  You can not keep a cell phone card charged up.  It evaporates like frozen hydrogen on a sunny Phoenix Arizona June day.
  • Car?  Per capita car ownership is VERY low compared to the USA.  Most people simply can not afford it.  The government doubles the cost of the car with taxes.  Its like the government is tying rocks on the peoples feet and tell them to run !  Its a bitter joke on the people.
  • Corruption is rampant in government.  Worse than even in the USA.  Simple crazy stuff like a higher up in a state university embezzling tuition and then the state saying the students have to pay.
  • Powerful men in the north ruling entire states like a family owned farm.  Only this family is not the nice kind.  They keep the people ignorant willfully. They then buy votes by promising government giveaways.
  • Highly tax imports – People make 1/6 ( max )  what they do in the USA there.  Yet it is forbidden to import used computer equipment.  Import taxes double the cost. Imagine your new computer costing you 12X what you paid for it !

unDemocrats talk and talk and talk.   You should not listen.   You will not profit by making the place you live in a socialist paradise.  Socialist paradise never reach the level of the lowest form of true capitalism in opportunity or freedom.  If you do not believe me stay for a long period of time in Brazil and try to do business there.  Learn the language and culture.  You will quickly agree.

On the positive side keeping people poor makes the women desparate to find a sensible man.  Some of them sell their bodies for the equivalent of 25 US dollars.  (  sarcasm intended )
